The Digital Nomad visa allows professionals to work remotely from Spain for a foreign company. If the application is submitted from within Spain, the residence permit can last up to 3 years. Through a consulate, the initial duration is 1 year.
Main requirements
- A foreign company with at least 1 year of activity
- A prior employment or freelance relationship of at least 3 months
- Minimum income: 200% of the Spanish minimum wage (SMI), approx. €2,500–€3,000 per month
Countries without a Social Security agreement
Applicants from countries without a Social Security agreement with Spain must complete additional steps:
- Registration with Spanish Social Security
- NIF (tax identification number) and registration with the Tax Agency
- Legalised documents with sworn translations
Countries without an agreement include, among others: India, China, Morocco, Egypt, the Philippines, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Nepal, South Africa, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela.
